Idaho Lottery

Since it started on July 19, 1989, the Idaho Lottery has contributed over $1.034 billion to Idaho public schools and the Permanent Building Fund, which finances state facilities like colleges and universities. In addition, more than $2.8 billion has been paid out as prizes. The Gem State's biggest Lottery winner is Brad Duke of Star, who won a $220 million Powerball jackpot in 2005.

Game Information

Idahoans can play multi-state games Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America and Lucky for Life.

The price of a Powerball play in Idaho increased to $3.00 in August 2021, and all tickets automatically include the Power Play multiplier for non-jackpot prizes. Power Play cannot be removed from the ticket.

From February 2023, players in the Gem State can add Double Play to their Powerball tickets, for an additional $1, to be in with a chance of winning the $10,000,000 Double Play jackpot in the second drawing.

Idaho players also have some fun in-state games at their disposal.

5 Star Draw

5 Star Draw is a homegrown Idaho Lottery favorite with a $250,000 starting jackpot that keeps increasing until a lucky player hits it, and each $5 ticket delivers two shots at winning. Draws are held on Tuesday and Friday nights at 8:00 PM MT..

Idaho Cash

Idaho Cash is a Gem State exclusive five-number game with a top prize that starts at $20,000 and rolls over with every draw until it's won. Every $1 ticket provides two plays. Draws are held every night at 8:00 PM MT.

Weekly Grand

Weekly Grand is a game only offered in Idaho, with the chance to win $1,000 a week for a whole year with all taxes already paid. It costs $2 to play and drawings are held every evening at 8:00 PM MT.

Pick 4

Idaho's four-digit game offers a $5,000 grand prize on a $1 wager with draws twice every day. Choose from a variety of fun wager types including Exact Order, Any Order, Exact/Any Order, and Pairs. Try the Sum It Up add-on for more ways to win.

Pick 3

Pick 3 players can win up to $500 on a $1 bet, with a Day and Night draw offering two chances to hit a payout daily. There are a range of Exact Order, Any Order, and Pairs wager types to try, and the Sum It Up option gives you an extra shot at winning.

Other Idaho Lottery Games

Other ID Lottery games include charitable Bingo Raffle games and a number of instant win games such as Scratch games, InstaPlay games, PullTabs and TouchTabs. Retired Games

2 by 2 - Idaho retired the multi-state game in August 2022 not long after joining in April 2021. Players could enter the draw held every evening at 8:15 PM MT for just $1 per play. 2 by 2 featured a top prize of $22,000 that increased to $44,000 weekly on 2 by 2 Tuesdays with the purchase of a seven-day (or multiple of seven) multi-draw ticket.

Claiming Idaho Lottery Prizes

If you win an Idaho Lottery prize, you'll have 180 days from the date of the drawing or 180 days from the announced date of closure (for all instant games). All prizes left unclaimed past the deadline are allocated to a dividend fund.

Prizes of any amount may be claimed by mail. Prizes worth up to $599 can also be redeemed at authorized lottery retailers across the state. Prizes worth more than $600 can be claimed by mail or in person at the Idaho Lottery head office in Boise.

Larger prizes will be subject to a federal withholding tax of 24 percent and a state tax of 6.5 percent.

  1. Completed, signed original ticket
  2. Completed claim form and addendum

History of the Idaho Lottery

The Idaho Lottery started selling tickets on July 19th, 1989 and had raised $65 million in sales by the end of its first year. Lotto*America tickets went on sale in February 1990, and in April 1992 the game was replaced with Powerball. Hot Lotto tickets went on sale in October 2007 and the state joined Mega Millions in 2010.

Over $697 million has been transferred to public education and infrastructure thanks to money raised through Idaho Lottery ticket sales.

Hot Lotto ticket sales ceased in October 2017 due to the cancellation of the game.
